Welcome to the office of Dr. Joseph Arnold, D.D.S., P.C. Dr. Arnold has been providing dental care for the Columbus area for over 30 years. We always strive to provide our patients with the latest and most modern care with our state-of-the art technology and comfortable atmosphere. OUR SERVICES
General Dentistry
Dental care is considered important to wellness and health. Dentist work with patients to promote oral health, and demonstrate the proper home habits to prevent damage from dental cavities. Your dentist performs an evaluation and diagnostic testing to detect dental problems such as, cavities or gum disease, and treats such issues in a way that fully restores the tooth. In addition to providing basic dental exams, also performing restorative procedures such as root canal therapy, crowns and bridges, and fillings are considered general dentistry as well.
Restorative Work
Tooth decay is a very widespread chronic disease in the United States. Removing diseased tooth structure can save a tooth, but the loss can leave the tooth weak and unable to bite and chew. Although teeth cannot repair themselves, they aren’t necessarily doomed when damage or infected. We offer a wide variety of restorative dentistry treatments to help your smile regain its full function.
Endodontics
Root canal therapy is needed when the root of a tooth is affected by decay and infection. In order to save a tooth, all the living tissue inside the tooth is removed and the resulting space is filled with special medicated dental materials. A crown or filling is then placed over the top of the tooth to fully restore it.
Having a root canal done on a tooth is the treatment chosen of choice to save a tooth that otherwise would die and have to be extracted. Some patients believe that removing a tooth that has problems is the better solution, but what they don’t realize is that extracting a tooth will be more costly and causes significant problems for adjacent teeth.
Signs and symptoms of a root canal may include; an abscess on the gums, hot and cold sensitivity, severe toothache, swelling or tenderness, and sometimes no symptoms are present.​
Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry is generally used to refer to any dental work that improves the appearance (though not necessarily the function) of a person’s teeth, gums and/or bite. We take pride in our work, and want you to love your smile. Our office offers veneers, teeth whitening, and various crowns needed to meet your needs. Bridges, partials, and dentures can also be considered cosmetic. These procedures can help enhance your smile and make you feel and look your very best.
Preventative Care
Your very first appointment with our Hygienist will consist of reviewing your Health History and medications, an optional oral cancer screening, and a full set of radiographs. A periodontal exam will also be performed to determine if any bone loss or gum disease is present. Depending on the condition of your teeth and gums, we will recommend the necessary type of prophylaxis. We offer preventative periodontal therapy and for more involved treatment we perform Active periodontal therapy followed by Supportive Periodontal therapy. We fill that proper education is key to achieving optimal oral health. Our hygienists are passionate about maintaining health, treating periodontal disease, and teaching our patients how to properly care for their teeth and gums.
OUR DENTISTS
Dr. Joseph Arnold received a Bachelors of Science in Zoology at The University of Oklahoma in 1986. He graduated from Oklahoma College of Dentistry in 1990 with a degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery and was an Honor Student at OUCOD. In 1990, he acquired the dental practice of Dr. David Weise. He is a member of the Georgia Dental Association, American Dental Association, Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the Georgia Academy of Dental Practice. He has served with the Georgia Dental Association on all levels in the Western District. Dr. Arnold was part of the adjunct faculty at Columbus State University and Columbus Technical College.

He is a proud father of six children, Joseph 27, Brooks 25, Rie 23, Avery 23, Jack 22, and Ella 13. Dr. Arnold and his wife, Marie are active members of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Columbus, Georgia.

Born and raised in Columbus, GA, Dr. Alexander Caves graduated from Brookstone Highschool in 2013. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of Georgia in 2017. Dr. Caves graduated with his Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry.
Dr. Caves stays up to date on the current advancements in dentistry and spends many hours each month on post-doctorate courses. He is an active member of the Hinman Dental Society, The American Dental Association, and The Christian Medical & Dental Association.
He is excited to return back to his hometown in order to be the third generation of the Caves family to serve the dental needs of the Columbus area. He attends the Trinity Episcopal Church and in his spare time, Dr Caves enjoys fishing, running, skiing, spending time with his family, and cheering on the dawgs!
